Frozen Giant - Four Skulls

I got the frozen ore and completed Fershid's quest, which opened up the dialogue with Four Skulls in the Cavern of Icicles. When I talk to Four Skulls ("Sir Giant"), it says "He stands stiff and cold as stone." I know I'm supposed to use the burning hand spell to thaw him. I use a burning hand scroll, and it just says he is a friendly creature and I shouldn't attack him. I can't thaw him. I've tried burning hand, great burning hand, and fireball. I am only using scrolls, since I am playing as a pure ranger and trying to avoid learning any attack magic spells. What should I do?

You need to know the spell. This isn't an essential quest so you can leave it. You could save it for a future run through with a different character.

Helloo, I am standing in front of him, have the quest and know burning hand. But it says this creature is friendly. What to do?

You need at least two pieces of Frozen Ore in your inventory.
